Spectators of the Show

I'm so excited! I've been waiting all week for this day. I quickly slide into my favorite blue jeans, grab a clean shirt, and shuffle into my tennis shoes. Thoughts of the week’s events rush through my brain like wind through the autumn trees as I grab a piece of cold pizza from the fridge and scurry out the door to my SUV. Thank God that they'll have food there.
My watch tells me to hurry if I don't want to miss the shows big opening number, which I heard was going to be something that I wouldn't want to miss.
As I get close to the complex, I notice the police officer working patiently to direct the traffic in and out of the complexes busy parking lot. I'm glad I don't have that job, but I guess someone has to do it. After turning in, it seems like an eternity before I find a place to park, but finally I do. "Hurry" my head tells me, it only minutes until show time.
A smiling usher hands me a program as I make my way through the auditorium's doors. The air is abuzz with excitement and anticipation. I quickly grab something from the cafĂ© and then hurry to find a seat as close to the front as possible. Starbuck's coffee and a bakery fresh blueberry bagel with cream cheese - can’t beat that. Making it to my seat with only moments to spare, I breathe a sigh of relief as I sink into my seat. The orchestra strikes the first chord of the opening number, making me jump. "Perfect”, I thought, “this is one of my favorite songs."
Within moments the show is in full voice and stupendous form. During the next sixty minutes, I enjoy the best in great music and live entertainment. They make me laugh. Make me cry. They make me feel good about myself. They even make me laugh at myself a bit. Now, that's quality entertainment. As the band plays its closing number, I gather my things and still chuckling from the main characters last line, I make my way to parking lot. As I pull out onto the highway, I wonder what next weeks show will be about. Well, I guess we’ll have till then to see. But, I do hope they serve blueberry muffins instead of those bagels next week.
